Happy New Year! *insert champagne bottle, glass clinking, and party popper emojis* I hope that you enjoyed ringing in the New Year. It’s officially 2019, and you know what that means: time to kick your resolutions or goals into high gear. Somehow, January 1 is symbolic and represents an opportunity to “turn it around” with a fresh calendar year.
One of my favourite holiday traditions is sending (and receiving) Christmas cards. Thanks to Rifle Paper Co. for personalising my cards with a custom illustration and their famous floral design.

Recently, against my better judgement, I downloaded an app that tracks and reports Instagram unfollowers. Why? Well, a friend on Twitter mentioned she had recently done it out of curiosity and so I think that pressured me. I’m not quite sure why, but it rattled me. Am I shallow? It’s bizarre, and I picture my mom rolling her eyes, but it’s an odd psychology. Many of us use social to maintain relationships with those we care about, although we may never interact. In short, we just accumulate contacts, then never engage them.

I have to start by sharing my obsession with Rationale. His album dropped last Friday and it has been on repeat all weekend long. His voice, the rhythm, it’s all just magical. You’ll find Oil and Water on this playlist, but be sure to check out all of his tracks — there isn’t one that will disappoint. A close runner up for favourite from this selection of tracks would be Jesse J’s Not My Ex. The lyrics are really beautiful and Jesse J delivers with passion.

It was kind of quiet week in the realm of releases, but I’ve been able to find a few favourites that I think you’ll enjoy! I’m currently loving the collab between Macklemore and Kesha; Maggie Rogers‘s electro-folk single, Split Stones; Kim Petras‘s Hillside Boys sparkles like champagne; and Mark Forster‘s Kogong is the sound that the heart makes when you listen carefully.
